Modern windshields carry forward-facing cameras for lane-keep assist, automatic braking, and adaptive cruise control. After any replacement, those cameras need to be recalibrated to see the road correctly again.
ADAS — Advanced Driver Assistance Systems — rely on a camera mounted at the top of your windshield to judge lane position, following distance, and obstacles ahead. Even a millimeter of misalignment during a windshield swap can throw that camera's reference point off.
We perform static calibration (using precision targets in a controlled setup), dynamic calibration (a calibration drive at set speeds), or both, depending on what your vehicle's manufacturer requires. The process confirms your lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are reading the road exactly as they should.

No — calibration is only needed when the windshield itself is removed and reinstalled, as with a full replacement. A chip repair doesn't disturb the camera's mounting.

The safety systems may misjudge lane position or following distance, or disable themselves and throw a dashboard warning. It's not something to skip.
